The Beautiful Province of Batangas

Beach, Sunset, Islands, Corals, Relaxing with Family and Friends

Batangas is one of the most popular destinations near Metro Manila, Philippines. The province has many excellent beaches and resorts to visit including Pico de Loro, which has a great resort and beach view, and Anilao, which has a great coral reef to go snorkling at. I went to Pico de Loro with some family and friends and instantly fell in love with the area. It had a swimming pool overlooking the beach, and an amazing resort to relax and get away from the city.

Relaxing on these banig chairs. Banig is a handwoven mat usually used in East Asia and Philippines for sleeping and sitting. This type of mat was traditionally made in the Philippines. Although has been more widely used too.

There are different activities you can do in Pico de Loro, one of which is banana boating where you ride on this main tube and rest your feet on two laterally flanking tubes which stabilize the boat. The driver then pulls you along the water and quickly makes sharp turns for the boat to tip over and the people to fall in the water. It is quite fun, you just have to be careful when you fall into the water that you do not hit anyone.

Anilao is popular with divers and snorklers. The island is surrounded with beautiful corals and an amazing diversity of fishes. I got the chance to visit this place for my friends birthday celebration. We stayed at a resort fronting the beach where we took a speedboat and went island hopping and snorkling to see a wonderful view of the corals.

The Street Children of The Philippines

Let's help them get out of this poverty and lifestyle

ChildHope Asia Philippines is an international, non-profit , non-political, non-sectarian organization whose principal purpose is to advocate for the cause of street children in the Philippines. It works towards the liberation of children from their suffering cause by working and living on the street.

I am currently in the Philippines for a few months and have been helping with this non profit organization that funds social workers and street educators to help educate kids that live on the streets. Most of these kids rely on begging to survive, or sell candy and cigarettes to get some money. These kids either have no family, have family in far places, or family that is very abusive. It has been life changing to have met these kids and to have helped them in any way possible.

We are all blessed and sometimes take advantage of the blessings we have. When we actually see and experience the life of the less fortunate, we realize that what we used to complain about are just petty stuff that doesn't really matter.

If you would like to help these street children, please help by spreading the word to keep funding this organization so we can try and keep these street children off the streets, give them a better future, and change their street lifestyle.

A Camping Trip I Will Never Forget

First and Most Likely Last

If you think camping in America is fun, then you are definitely right. Camping in the Philippines is a whole different story. First of all, it is already hot and humid all year round, and the fact that I arrived on the hottest month of the year did not help at all. I'm also not used to the heat, haha. I landed in Manila, Philippines on the month of April and went camping days later. We went to Zambales. Luckily we only stayed for one night because if we stayed longer I do not know how I would've survived. The heat and humidity was unbearable, and the mosquitoes would not stop biting us.

Other than the heat, humidity, and mosquitoes, the beach was amazing with white sand and the water was warm enough to swim. The location is beautiful, you would have to take a boat to go to the island of Anawangin and camp on their site. We brought tents, and canned foods to eat.

Overall it was an experience I will never forget thanks to my friends. It also made me realize how blessed I am in life.
